Fundamentals of Woodworking

Students in Fundamentals of Woodworking will learn the basic characteristics of wood, the different types available and methods of working wood.

Students will learn to operate safely the following pieces of equipment: drill press,  sander, scroll saw, lathe, mortising machine, band saw, radial arm saw, surface planer, motorized miter box, table saw, jointer and router. Students will also learn how to make wood joints that are appropriate for the project they are constructing.

Students will have the opportunity to construct a project of their own choosing the second half of the semester.
